Term: Direct Hire

Primary Duties of the Commercial Lines Account Manager:

  • Provide quality renewal management, carrier marketing, and customer service to the clients, for both new business and renewal clients.
  • Be the day-to-day liaison between the insurance company and Producer.
  • Daily servicing of clients will include: Addressing various coverage issues

Handling all the inside service work associated with the clients account (including all endorsement activity, routine coverage questions, problem-solving, Certificates of Insurance, Bonds, Checking and Binding of Policies, handling all Agency Bill Quotes, Financing, and Invoicing).

  • Be the main contact to Wholesalers related to Agency Bill Customers. This position is responsible for staying 30-60 days ahead of Agency Bill and Direct Bill Customer Insurance Renewals.
  • The Commercial Lines Account Manager at times, along with the Producer, will proactively communicate with the Customer in advance of the policy expiration in an effort to attain checks/monies in advance of the Agency Bill Policy Expiration dates.
  • Responsible for implementing “Fees” per the Guideline on each and every Agency Bill Invoice. This position also is responsible for completing and selling Finance Agreements to all Agency Bill policy placements.
  • Review Commercial Lines “Suspense Items” each week and updating the Commercial Lines “Suspense Items” (located within the TAM Software) accurately and timely each week.
  • Responsible as a Team Member to know, apply, and double check each and every workflow process within the Commercial Lines Department and the TAM Software
  • Adhere to company standards, to include returning phone calls and emails the same day, which is an important company standard.
  • All activities need to be recorded and closed out in a timely fashion. The activity report is an important tool that management uses to assess the roles effectiveness and workload.
  • Make every effort to attend all Insurance Company and Management

Meetings.

  • Responsible and the key contact to carriers and at times, customers during a book role process.
  • Responsible to assist the Team with transitioning books of business and customers within an acquisition that makes.
  • All Policies and Procedures within the company and within the department are to be followed and adhered in an effort to meet standards.
  • It is critical that the Commercial Lines Account Manager assures that a request to bind insurance coverage protection is emailed from the client stating dates, carrier name, and premiums per policy and attached within the client file.
  • Promotes a proactive, team-orientated culture, and expects each position to assist one another when necessary so that all workflow is completed timely, accurately and client expectations are achieved.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific responsibilities of the Commercial Lines Account Manager will include, but not be limited to:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, producers, wholesalers, and carriers.
  • Inform and educate clients and producers about coverages, appropriate limits, exclusions, carrier expertise, claims, and exposures; document client files within TAM accordingly.
  • Maintain client files in TAM accurately and consistently documenting conversations, sending confirmations to clients and ensure Activity Report is updated during or immediately after the discussion with the client.
  • Develops professional looking, organized, and diligent proposals and applications, and submits to insured for signatures on all “applications” and stays on top of each and every client renewal it is responsible for in a timely and organized fashion to ensure the client and producer have time to review proposals and quotations prior to policy expiration as needed.
  • Communicates directly with underwriters and carrier reps with various carrier partners and wholesalers and needs to be able to rate online within each carrier’s portal to attain competitive quotes, accurately, timely, and document properly within TAM.
  • Required to track on a monthly basis all new business written, and all renewal business lost and submit within a spreadsheet to the CEO monthly.
  • Assist clients in making appropriate coverage changes; inform and educate clients about coverages, exclusions, exposures and audits, and attach documents to the client file within TAM accurately and efficiently.
  • Involved in carrier discussion and meetings involving appetite, policy form updates, general carrier updates, new business, and renewal management discussions.
  • Responsible for reviewing all audits of client policies to verify accuracy and facilitates corrections, as needed, between the client and carrier and when necessary, follows up with client for payment.
  • Responsible to process and track Agency Fees as required within the Agency Fee Guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of commercial insurance underwriting, coverage and rate analysis.
  • Minimum 10 years’ commercial insurance experience.
  • Must be able to clearly and professionally communicate verbally and in writing to customers, carriers, and internal

team members.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Very detailed, organized, computer friendly, paperless, and process-oriented professional within the industry for a minimum of 10 years.
  • Motivated, organized, prioritized, and self-managed workload. Be able to take direction from management when necessary or need be.
  • Ability to work in a team environment (helping other team members and management accomplish goals and objectives outside of the job description when necessary to help), with a positive attitude and willingness to help others.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and professional decorum.

Education and/or Experience:

  • College degree required.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Commercial Lines Account Manager currently holding a P&C license is required.
  • CIC, CPCU, and/or CISR designations preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience handling Account Management-Marketing of Property & Casualty premiums from $500-$1,000,000.
  • Current/recent Experience (no longer than 6 months of not using the TAM Software) with TAM software necessary. A minimum of 3 years using the TAM Software within a Commercial Lines Account Management role.
  • Previous experience working in an independent insurance agency or large insurance broker as a Commercial Lines Account Manager for Property & Casualty Insurance.
  • Solid skills with Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint are a must. A minimum of 3 years’ experience.
